Couldn’t sleep at all last night so I am spending some time this morning sketching out the layouts to some of the basics for Matryoshka. This Ramona’s kitchen, a teeny cramped little kitchen/dining area full of years of wear and love set in a farmhouse. The main colors are blue, vanilla (due to age), red, and dark wood for the shelving.
Thank you for your interest!
In Matryoshka's case, it is a very personal project that I want to keep between myself and only a handful of others at this time, who will proofread my drafts and look over my thumbnails, maybe help me out if I get stuck or help smooth out my dialogue and/or pacing. I have other projects planned in the future that I might bring in a wider circle of people to help with but Matryoshka is, like I said, not only my very first project but also one that is very close to my heart. At this moment, I’m not looking to bring in anyone else to the creative/editing team.
If you’d like to keep me inspired and pushing forward, your encouragement and support is always welcome. I know that I don’t have any real character sketches out just yet, but they’re coming soon and I always adore fan art of my characters. When the time draws closer to the release date, I will need people to share and promote the comic, so that would help too. :)
And so it begins…
Opening panel thumbnail to Matryoshka, complete with my horrendous handwriting. Currently completing character sheets and thumbing out the prologue while still writing on chapters.
I’m hoping to premiere the comic with the completed prologue on June 19, 2014 and update either Tues/Thurs or just on Thursdays from there forward.
Before that, though, I’ll try to throw out some non-spoilery character sketches and stuff like that.
Excited to be collaborating with ashkevha on her NaNoWriMo. We’ll be tossing ideas back and forth like spaghetti in a food fight and she’ll assemble all those noodles to make awesomesauceness. As soon as the novel is complete and finalized, I’ll be turning it into a comic. VERY EXCITED!! She’s very talented and creative and I think you guys are going to just love the story. :3
Doing some warm-ups and this girl wiggled herself out of the woodwork in a very rough sketch.
This is It/Thing/Her.
Of course, that isn’t her true name. Her name isn’t known and those who do know refuse to speak it.
She has stitching across her face and neck and wears bandages on her arms just past her elbows. She also has a cataract in her right eye.
She is a character for my upcoming comic, Matryoshka.
Soundtrack: Swing, jazz, and blues from the first half of the 20th century. (Bob Crosby, Danny Kaye, Louie Armstrong, The Ink Spots, etc)
Chat will be open. Bold your text if you need me. Please call me Minty.
Having a tough time deciding between these styles.

I’m currently doing full character sheets for each character and then I’m going to get some help and re-approach the storyboarding for the prologue. Most of it will be the same, though. I just need a better set up and flow.
